This is why I love you guys!

Exactly this reason.
Patrick the Chipmunk
I was contacted about making a chipmunk! Have I ever thought of making a chipmunk before?
No.
Same thing with Eleanor the Elephant, Eugene the Panda and the Lions....
Many of my animal requests are fueled by a need for them.

That is why I love the creative process, it is ever flowing and changing.

Thank you for pushing me further in my art!

Lloyd the Lion

I just listed Lloyd here: Lloyd the Lion on Etsy

This is Lloyd.
He is a Lion.
He is Mr. Fix-it around the house.
The Float on your toilet not floating? It would float the titanic now.
The Washing Machine making a thumping noise? It no longer competes with the lowrider down the street.
Your windows leak the hot air? Its like an iron lung in the house now....
Is it bad you have to use a crowbar to open the front door because the weatherstripping is so tight?

Lloyd is named after my Grandfather who was the true Mr. Fix-it...

The Holly Jolly Holiday Set?!!

My wonderful husband, Mr. Red Marionette, came up with the idea of doing a massive Red Marionette Holiday set.
I shall call it The Holly Jolly Holiday Set. He recommended calling it the "Holy Crap its Huge Set" Or the "Sweet Gherkins its Large Set" but I like the safer version of Holly Jolly.

It would include all matching Red Marionette items: a four foot tree skirt, five Red Marionette ornaments and two pocket peeper stockings.

What do you all think?!

The season to be Jolly!

I am working on Lola, Fortinbras, Phineas and Jerry as I type.
Three are grumpy eyed owls that I am nearly sold out of. Jerry I have been sold out of for a while. Tonight is ornament night.

I have high hopes tomorrow to finish The Motherload tree skirt that is in progress. I call it The Motherload as it is five owls (Very similar to the Motherload set I recently sold, click here ) and totally the awesomeness that it deserves!

It is the pisa de la resistance. (Im not well versed in other languages so I spelled it phonetically, okay?)
This is my favorite one so far.
Here is a dark and blurry cell phone image for your viewing enjoyment!
I am having so much fun with the tree skirts I have to get to work on more!

Yay for the Jolly Holiday!

Insert Title Here

I have returned!
We are back from Wisconsin safe and sound. I have a little sickness but it is going away steadily!
Too much fresh air and all. :)

We had a wonderful time and I got to meet a lot of Mr. Red Marionettes family and family friends that I had never seen before. It was wonderful that there was so much love during the reception!
I got to wear my wedding dress again so we could have more photos taken with family.
It was an amazing time and I have to thank his Parents and his sister and everyone that helped!

I am on a mission to continue keeping Red Marionette stocked through this holiday season. I am slowly falling behind, but hope to make that time up soon with sewing in the evenings. My schedule in October turns back to normal with me working days so I will have more energy for life!
Hooray!

Wisconsin and the future

Mr. Red Marionettes family lives in Wisconsin. We are taking a trip there from the 16th thru the 20th of September.
It has been rather warm and rainy still here in Florida, so this will be a nice change to get into the mood to make even more fall and Christmas items!
Red Marionette will still be open on www.redmarionette.com but the orders will not ship until September 21st when we return.

I have been thinking a lot about the future of Red Marionette. Of course it would be ideal to be able to take Red Marionette full time.
I am one of those people who have more ideas than I have time to devote to making it.
Someday I hope to have the time to make scarves and more accessories for chilly brisk seasons.
I would love to make more home accessories like fun coasters or even more personal accessories like totes in more styles.

I have a long list I keep adding to and it makes me even more motivated to find a way to make it work out. I cant express how fulfilling it is to know you are making ends meet start to finish on your own. Id love to be able to take it full time.
Here is to the future and dreams.

Tree Skirts

I have been working on more tree skirts as the first one listed that was the prototype sold within three hours.
So far they are about 33" in diameter for smaller trees. They have four to five critters on them. (Price range $75 to $85)
I am hesitant to commit to making a larger tree skirt (like 48") because I dont know if people are willing to purchase something like that.
Can you all put on your "Shopping" hats for me? I suppose I am looking for your opinion and any words of advice you all have? Should I commit the time to make the large ones? The price ranges on the larger one would be around $130 to $150 depending on the amount of critters.
Id really love to have all of your feedback on this one!

Thanks so much!

Im official! Weee!

I have signed up for my EIN (Employer Identification Number). Not that I am expecting to have employees but what that allows me is to get a discount at Joanns or other craft retailers as well as wholesale fabric accounts with Michael Miller and Alexander Henry and the like. Yay!
I feel so professional now. Hehe!

On another note I did get four tops done for the Tree Skirts I was working on this weekend. I am very happy that I may be able to get another listed by the end of this weekend!

Labor Day!

I hope this finds everyone out in La-la land enjoying Labor Day!
I was lucky enough to have Tuesday off as well so I am very happy. I have grand intentions of cleaning a bunch today but of course I first had to take care of Etsy and Blogging! :)
Priorities, you know?

I have been working diligently on four more tree skirts. I am nearly done hand sewing the critters on them and then it will be on to the studio to sew them together. ( I do a lot of hand sewing on the couch so I am not stuck in the studio all the time.)
Are all of you out there starting to work on Holiday stuff as well?
I find myself liking it icy cold in our house so I feel more like Fall and closer to the Holidays. It has been tropical here! (Granted, that is normal for Florida) but for some reason this year it seems heavier with humidity and heat. HOT. Maybe I am more sensitive to it this year cause I am working in extreme air conditioning at my day job. Who knows, but it being a little chillier inside makes me feel like the holidays are closer than they are.
What makes you motivated for the Holidays?

I am off to clean! That always helps me get more motivated too...
Ta ta!

Welcome to September

I love September.
The leaves change, the weather (normally) starts to cool down. Fall begins.

I love it so much I got a tattoo of fall leaves swirling around.
This is a section of it that goes up my side on my ribs. It starts lower back center and moves up to the right and over my ribs.
I can have fall with me no matter where I go. (Florida doesnt have much of a fall season)

Another thing happens that seems pretty important. Stores begin to adjust their product to gear towards Christmas. I will be doing the same thing. Pocket Peeper stockings and Monster stockings are already available at www.redmarionette.com
I am super excited about new items I will have this fall. Including the 4 new limited edition tree skirts I have in progress.

What is your favorite part about September?
