We decided to make gingerbread houses with my brother and his family while we were visiting for the Holidays. We didnt bake real gingerbread. Instead we used Graham crackers as the base. Covered in candy and icing who would know anyway?
Mr. RedMarionette took the non-traditional approach of using candy corn to set his on fire. He claims it started with the candy corn campfire in the front of the house and spread.

Here you can see an action shot of the fire spreading rapidly to the roof.I took a more traditional approach with a half pitched roof covered in almond slivers. My flat roof side however had to have extensive repair work as it collapsed from the massive amount of chocolate chips and coconut snow. Who would have thought there would have been too much weight due to coconut snow?!
My peppermint lighthouse on the roof was the crowning moment if me finishing and trying to get a photo before everything fell apart! :)
The entire family had a blast and it was amazing to me how different everyone made their houses. I love creative people!
