Around the House Cookies

Kyle had mentioned he wanted cookies.
I am sure you all know how those simple words can invoke cravings on an orange threat level. We didnt want to go anywhere to purchase them, and with us moving soon we are trying to use up what we have around the house.
I did a quick internet search for no bake cookies because I was determined not to heat up the house using the oven and with already having to run the AC.
Yes, AC in Florida in February is normal.
I found a recipe similar to some things that I had around the house that I will share with you forthwith.
I cannot express to you the melt in your mouth buttery brown sugary (There is no brown sugar added) spiced goodness that these are. They would be wonderful warm right before the set dribbled over vanilla ice cream!
I was shocked.
My experience with no bake was normally the butterscotch haystacks or the chocolate peanut butter oatmeal blobs.
No no no, this is a multi-leveled flavored nugget of no bake goodness.

Bear in mind I tweaked it from its original recipe because of things I had around the house.
I got the original recipe off of a site called Momswhothink.com

The recipe is as follows:
3 1/2 Cups of Quick Oats
1 Cup of Flaked Coconut (I had the sweetened kind)
3 tbsp of Cocoa (I used two packets of Hot Chocolate mix.... I know, I know)
3/4 Cup of Nuts (I used mixed nuts in the food processor for a couple of zaps)
2 Cups of Sugar
1/2 Cup of Milk
1 Stick of Butter
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

In a saucepan bring the milk, sugar and butter and Vanilla to a boil. Boil for one minute and then stir in premixed dry ingredients. Mix well.
Drop teaspoon size blobs on wax paper. Let cool/set.

Amazingness!!

Monster Update: Earwings

We have a monster update!

At Kyles suggestion I changed the "Angel" monster to a bit more fun looking wings. They look like they are ears - but still wings! I love his sheepish little face! I cant wait to get these in to production!

Say hello to Earwings Monster!

MONSTERS! Eek!

I would like to introduce you to my newest monster sketches and prototype.
The teal monster is Donald the Drippy Monster.

The sketches dont have names yet, but the top one is the flower monster - He's so pretty! The next one has sharp pointy wings like a little monster Angel. The bottom one is foot-head. He has a third foot growing out of his head. He does headstands really well.

These little guys will be made in to wall art, ornaments and mobiles in the spring!

Valentines = Simple

We have never been big on Valentines gestures. Why do people feel that they need to make a grand gesture on one day of the year because it is expected?
I expect (and give) little gestures every day! HA! :) I am not anti-valentines, but it seems to be yet another commercial holiday. I dont need extra candy, nor do I need stuffed animals or flowers that will die. I have always told Kyle if he wanted to get me flowers then I want the kind I can plant in the ground. Cut flowers are beautiful but they make me sad.

So, Valentines at our house is super simple. Hugs and smooches and mushy sentiments and sometimes love notes.... and I made him a vegetable Lasagna in the crockpot. I made him meatloaf and mashed potatoes last night.
These are simple (and free) things I can do that show him I love him and I am thinking of him.
As I mentioned in my previous post, both Kyle and I prefer simpler aspects in life. We are finding that we march to a significantly different beat of a drum than mainstream.
I dont need a "holiday" to tell my husband I care about him and savor every moment I have with him.
What do you do for the love of your life?
