Productive Saturday

Whew!
Today was a busy day!
I took some time off from doing some work on Thursday so I could go see my nephew in his baseball game and boy did I make up for it today!
I stitched up 12 wall art and will do the assembly for them tomorrow.
I also finished the new "girly" set of owl cupcake toppers in pinks and purples. The party favor set of ornaments matches it. And I made a second duplicate set to list in the ornaments section of my shop since the Party Favor set will be in the Party Goodies section.
I also finished the "boy" set of owl ornaments in blues, greens and teals that are the same as the cupcake toppers. They will also be in the Party Goodies section but they can easily be used as a Holiday ornament set if someone wishes.
Tomorrow I will be working on a baby woodland ornament set that matches the woodland cupcake toppers...
AND, I had an idea for a new cake topper. They would be the full sized owls and they would be just like the cupcake toppers only instead of a large set it would be two of them and I will stitch them looking at each other. It would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary cake! I will also make them available in any color of my felt swatches so people can pick their favorite colors. Ill be working on the sample pieces for those tomorrow as well.
Its late and my eyeballs are about to pop. I just wanted to share all of this new stuff to look for next week in the shop! I hope you all are having a great weekend!

Heartsy

Hello out there!
I dont know if you have ever heard of it before but there is an awesome site that offers handmade deals. BIG deals. It is called Heartsy.me Every day there are brand new discounts on handmade products. Their philosophy is to have over 50% off to draw more attention to the discount and the artist.
I just signed up to begin the process of voting for becoming eligible to be a potential featured seller on their site.
If you go HERE or cut and paste this link http://heartsy.me/deals/4110/like then you will see I need at least 60 votes of "Yes, Definitely" to proceed on to the next round of voting.
I have 72 hours to complete this task and I would really appreciate your vote!

If I am selected you will be able to purchase a voucher to get over 50% off in my shop! I have never offered a discount this steep before and it would be perfect timing as I have been putting brand new products in my shop (Mobiles, wreaths, new critters, cupcake toppers, etc).
I really appreciate everyone's help in this! Lets hope it makes it through!

Critters and Graphics

I began today with the task of making these graphics to list a "Choose Your Own Mobile" Listing on Etsy.
I realized that I dont have many animals in the list - but when I take in to consideration their color variations, I have a lot.

Sometimes I think I should have more and different types of animals.

I am considering working on Koala and a Deep Sea Angler Fish (That one still seems a bit ambitious to me.) to introduce this year. I just did a Donkey Prototype the other night... I am still struggling to come up with a cute monkey. I have a frog redesign in mind...

I am still thinking there could be more.
I keep wondering what else is out there that may match my style and be able to not have too many teeny tiny pieces. (Cause lets face it, the more small pieces to cut out and stitch the more expensive things get with added time.) So I am always trying to think of things to add or create with this list.
Do any of you out there have animal suggestions?

This is the felt swatch card that Kyle created so people would know what normal colors I have in stock. Unfortunately it doesnt show the slight variegation on the olive and I dont have the charcoal and Peanut Butter colors on here that I most recently got - as a flat color wouldnt do it justice. So for now this is what we will have so all of you can pick and choose your colors. :)
How exciting!

Taking the Leap

I realized that I hadnt mentioned much about my transition here in Kansas after our move in April.
It has long been a desire of mine to work for Red Marionette (and dabble in freelance or contract work here and there) as a full time job. I am always brimming with ideas and never had enough time to make as much product as I wanted to. I have been working full blown Red Marionette anywhere from 15 to 40 hours a week for the last several years, on top of a full time job.
Kyle and I knew we were at a crux with the business - It (I) was maxed out with spreading my time around. I couldnt possibly do any more without making it a full time priority - and yet year after year we keep selling out around the Holidays the stock I had made the entire year.
We took that as a good sign and decided that when we moved to Kansas in April I would give it a go as a full time gig. A little like jumping from the branch and learning to fly on the way down, but I have the business skills, ideas and savings in place. Now or never.
So, I have been officially self employed full time for the last 7 weeks.
I have introduced a lot of new stock, revamped the store and am going full steam ahead on product for the Holidays.
I hope to eventually share the things I learn (hard way or otherwise) as we go. This is a new adventure in our lives that I was remiss in sharing with you earlier! All of you 188 current followers of the blog and many more that read this. This gigantic news should have been shared earlier and I apologize for not. I really think it clicked this week that this is it. I am doing it. Its building up and slowly working! Whoo hoo!
So now I am sharing with you all the big step we took and the unknown future.
I hope you all are having a wonderful start to June!
And thank you all for your support over the last couple years!
